Just a few days after walking out of reporters during Super Bowl 50 interviews, Cam Newton is speaking out and explaining why he decided to get up and storm off the press podium after answering two minutes worth of questions following the Carolina Panthers loss on Sunday.

According to ESPN, Newton stated that he was a "sore loser," and is trying to clear his name after being criticized about walking out on the press.

MStars News previously reported that the MVP quarterback answered questions real short and appeared to be very irritated wearing a hoodie over his head after losing the Super Bowl.

Now in a new interview, Newton is claiming that he showed the world that he hated losing. "I've been on record to say I'm a sore loser,'' Newton said Tuesday inside the Carolina Panthers locker room. "Who likes to lose? You show me a good loser and I'm going to show you a loser. It's not a popularity contest. I'm here to win football games.''

The quarterback claimed that if he offended anyone, "that's cool." He continued, "But I know who I am and I'm not about to conform nor bend for anybody's expectations because your or anybody else's expectations will never exceed mine."

Newton had no regrets for his anger after the Panthers lost to the Denver Broncos. "It happened,'' the new father said. "I didn't want to talk to the media at the time. The truth of the matter is I really still don't want to talk to the media. But at the end of the day, things have to happen."

He added, "I had a lot of time to go back and play everything back. I'm human. I never once said that I was perfect. I never proclaimed that I was perfect, but at the end of the day, people pick and do things of that sort.''

Carolina coach Ron Rivera believed that the gossip about Newton's behavior after losing one of the biggest games in his career was unfair. He was proud of Newton for speaking out to the media on Tuesday after having such an ugly interview on Sunday.

Some believed that Newton walked out because he was upset at comments Chris Harris of the Broncos was making nearby.
