The Time Lord of Doctor Who has taken many forms over the years, and although Peter Capaldi has only played the 12th Doctor for two series, the actor has already hinted on a possible early exit from the role. But fans don't need to worry too much, Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is interested in becoming the 13th Doctor and also suggested that Beasts of No Nation actor Idris Elba should get a Sonic Screwdriver!

Williams, who has been a guest star on Doctor Who, recently spoke to Evening Standard, where she confirmed that she would love to be the next Doctor if she wasn't so busy.

"Yes, it would be cool but right now I'm locked into some other things," Williams said, although she did admit that she would be interested to have a woman portray the next Doctor.

"I think a female doctor would be incredible," she said.

Williams also offered another option for the role and suggested an established actor to play the 13th Doctor.

"I think a black Doctor would be incredible. I'm all for Idris Elba," she said, although the star of The Falling is willing to take on the role if the Luther actor isn't available.

"If not, I'll take it for the team and do it!" she declared.

The 18-year-old actress has already proven that she could hold her own beside Capaldi's Time Lord, and her character Ashildr/Me was even rumored to be the new Doctor's Companion. Hopefully, the producers of Doctor Who will consider the idea and Williams' schedule would be clear enough for her to become the 13th Doctor.

In addition to the possibility of losing Capaldi, Doctor Who will also need a new showrunner. We have previously reported that Sherlock's Steven Moffat will be stepping down from Doctor Who at the conclusion of Series 10 in 2017.
