Remember how Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams keeps insisting that Jon Snow is officially dead in the series? It turns out that the actress who plays Arya Stark may actually be hiding a secret about Kit Harington's character, and that there could be a major twist to his fate!

According to Vanity Fair, Williams attended the London Film Critic's Circle Awards, where she admitted on the red carpet that she doesn't like telling people that Jon is dead.

"I feel so mean because I speak to people and they're all like 'Jon Snow, is he back?' and it's like really heartbreaking because people are like 'yeah, but he's coming back though?'" she said.

The Doctor Who star may have felt bad about getting fans down, because she also added one last comment.

"It's a great twist but I can't say he's going to be alive," Williams said.

What did the actress mean when she said that? How could Jon be dead but still be featured in the promotional poster for Game of Thrones Season 6?

There is a theory that, after being brought back to life, Jon will be adopt a new name. This could explain why Williams insists on the character's death and possibly be the "great twist" she had previously mentioned.

But what could Jon's new name possibly be? The answer may be found in the third A Song of Ice and Fire novel. In A Storm of Swords, the newly minted King of the North Robb Stark realizes that he needs an heir who could take over Winterfell at the event of his death. Since Arya, Bran and Rickon are presumed dead and Sansa has been married off to Tyrion Lannister, he decides to legitimize Jon and name him the heir to Winterfell.

Although the decree was witnessed by several Northmen, Robb and Catelyn are murdered in the controversial Red Wedding and Jon remains unaware that he is now a Stark. However, fans believe that he will finally learn about the legitimization and return to the North to take back Winterfell.

Will Jon Snow finally be known as Jon Stark? Find out when Game of Thrones Season 6 premieres on HBO on April 24.
