Emily Prentiss, Paget Brewster's polyglot agent, has been sorely missed from the Criminal Minds cast, ever since she parted the show in the season 7 finale. CBS has announced that Brewster, whose character now works at the Interpol, will return to ask for the help of the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) for one episode in season 11!

According to a press release on CBS' website, Brewster's character Agent Prentiss is currently working on tracking down a serial killer who's working internationally, obviously making it Interpol's problem. When things get a little too complicated and the Unsub is planning their next attack in American soil, Emily calls up her BAU pals for help.

The episode will be premiering sometime next spring, as Agent Prentiss gets one last shot with her former teammates.

Brewster hasn't been a regular on the show since the end of season 7, though she reappeared during season 9 as the show celebrated its 200th episode. Brewster had also been asked to come back last year, after A.J. Cook left for a while on maternity leave, but she had a scheduling conflict.

"It just didn't work out, which was a shame," Brewster told TV Line when news broke. "I really wanted to do it!"

TV Guide spoke to Erica Messer, executive producer of Criminal Minds, called Brester "family" and is delighted to have Brewster back on the show, but her busy schedule often posed difficulties. Still, the producers are also keen on bringing her back when it makes sense within the story.

Since her time in the procedural drama, Brewster has focused more on comedic roles. While her breakout role in the 90's was in a comedy, playing Kathy on Friends for a six-episode run, she's most known for her role as Agent Emily Prentiss; still, these days she co-stars with John Stamos in Grandfathered and has also had guest appearances in Community.
