Sara Lance has been through a lot in Arrow, so seeing Caity Lotz's character cut loose in DC's Legends of Tomorrow has been a refreshing sight. However, the actress says that White Canary hasn't really lightened up at all!

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Lotz shared that she had some difficulty adjusting to playing Sara as a more carefree woman in the first episodes of Legends.

"There was a little figuring out for me, I think, in the first two episodes -- but those first two were all about setting everything up, too," Lotz said before adding that her character will get more action in the future.

"I really get moving, more into the season," she said. "There's some really cool Sara stuff, but yeah, it was weird at first. I was like, 'Oh, my God!' I just let her have fun."

She certainly deserves it after being killed by Thea Queen (Willa Holland) in Arrow Season 3 and getting resurrected haphazardly in the fourth season. However, you can expect to see Sara go back to her normal brooding self really soon, but Lotz doesn't mind. The actress admitted that she enjoys playing the problematic character anyway.

"One of my favorite things about Sara is how complicated she is, and I think that comes from the darkness of the torn, tortured kind of soul part of her," Lotz said. "One of the biggest things that comes from is just, she's very hard on herself, and she doesn't really accept herself or accept her past."

But her future is beginning to look a little brighter. It was previously reported that Lost Girl star Ali Liebert has joined Legends as a possible love interest for Sara, and Lotz immediately confirmed the news.

"She has a love interest kind of fling for an episode -- that's fun -- with a girl," Lotz said, although she was quick to add that Sara isn't quite ready for an actual romance.

"This season is not about Sara finding love," she said. "Sara needs to find Sara, to figure out who she is and kind of deal with her own demons. She's not out there looking for the love of her life. She needs to kind of find herself first."

DC's Legends of Tomorrow airs on The CW every Monday nights.
