After two initial replays CBS network said they would not replay the footage due to its graphic nature, according to Fox News.
The injury, which many say was "a freak accident," shocked the nation as millions of Americans tuned into Sunday's Midwest Regional final. Many sports fans attributed the broken leg suffered by Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann in a Monday Night Football game in 1985.
Ware was leaping in the air to block a shot, when he landed wrong causing his bone to pop out of his skin. Louisville Coach Pitino was nasuated by the fall. "I went over and I was going to help him up and then all of a sudden, I saw what it was and I almost literally threw up," Pitino said according to ABC Arizona.
CBS commentator, Clark Kellog described the injury as "gruesome." "If you can bear to watch it, take a look, but it's a gruesome-looking injury," Kellogg said. The decision to discontinue airing Ware's fall came from CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus . McManus said, "We did not zoom in on the injury when he was taken off," McManus said. "We did not try to highlight it. I think we did the right thing," Fox News reported.
In addition to Wares teammates, Coach Pitino, and fans "falling apart" and tearing up after the incident. which occurring during the first half of the game, celebrities took to social media outlets to offer support for Ware during this critical time.
