The Walking Dead Season 6 had a truly fitting comeback on AMC last Sunday when Daryl (Norman Reedus) solved the problem with the Saviors by blowing them away. However, "No Way Out" took a devastating turn when Jessie (Alexandra Breckinridge) and Sam (Major Dodson) were quickly taken out by walkers while Ron (Austin Abrams) is killed by Michonne (Danai Gurira) when he tries to shoot Carl (Chandler Riggs). Unfortunately, the bullet still hit its target and destroys Carl's eye.

It may have been a terrifying scene, but Riggs seems to enjoy the change in his character's looks. After the episode aired, the young actor recently shared a slightly NSFW selfie on Twitter featuring new prosthetics that completely covers his right eye. In addition to that, Riggs wrote the caption, "eye hoped u enjoyed the episode."

Carl's injury may have been a complete shocker for fans of the TV series, but the character has already lost his eye in the comic books. We have also reported that a Russian promo art for The Walking Dead had already hinted on the eventual loss of Carl's eye, but the scene still delivered one of the most terrifying moments in the show.

The Walking Dead executive producer and special effects supervisor Greg Nicotero recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about working on Carl's injury and explained why it was necessary to follow what happens in the comic books.

"We wanted to follow the graphic novel in terms of the extent of the injury because in the comics, Carl's wound is very important in in terms of how he moves forward," Nicotero said.

The injury will definitely change things up for Carl in the future, and the hole in his head will eventually prove to be a pivotal moment for the character and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Find out what happens next for Carl when "The Next World," the tenth episode of The Walking Dead Season 6 airs on AMC on February 21.
