The success of Deadpool has already blown minds and box office records across the world, proving that it is possible for an R-rated film to be a commercial hit. But has the success of Ryan Reynolds' wisecracking mercenary also convinced Fox to aim for an R-rating for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine 3?

Comic Book Resources has come across a picture posted by Imgur user RayChaos, which shows part of a pamphlet that was distributed during the Fox Toy Fair. The image shows some details about the upcoming sequel The Maze Runner: The Death Cure which will be released in February 2017. In addition to that, the photo features new information about The Wolverine III, revealing that the anticipated rating for the X-Men standalone film is "R."

It's no surprise that the third Wolverine movie could get an R-rating. Jackman has previously confirmed that the film will take its storyline from Mark Millar's comic book series Old Man Logan, which is filled to the brim with graphic violence. The sheer amount of casualties in the story could be enough to require an R-rating.

But is Fox pushing for an R-rating for Wolverine 3 because of Deadpool's box office success? The pamphlet was released at about the same time as the premiere of Deadpool and it is highly unlikely that the studio already knew how well the film would do during its opening weekend. It is possible that the R-rating for Wolverine 3 was anticipated for the film's violence and not because of Deadpool's success.

Wolverine 3 isn't the only other Fox movie that is expecting an R-rating. We have previously reported that Deadpool executive producer Simon Kinberg admitted that the planned X-Force film is one of the movies he can imagine would get the similar treatment.

The Wolverine III is scheduled for release on March 3, 2017.
