There is much excitement over the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King's book series The Dark Tower. However, there hasn't been a lot of updates other than rumors that Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey will take on the lead roles. Now, there are speculations that Mad Max: Fury Road star Abbey Lee Kershaw is being offered a strange role in the film!

According to Variety, the Australian model/actress is being considered for the role of Tirana, a Regulator who appears in the book series. The character only has a minor role in The Dark Tower, but there is a possibility that she will be given a bigger part in the movie. Some fans also speculate that Tirana might actually be a codename for a completely different character or that someone simply got the name wrong.

The Dark Tower follows the story of a gunslinger Roland Deschain, who is on a quest to find a tower that is the connection to every existing universe. There hasn't been any definitive casting news for the film adaptation, although Russel Crowe was initially reported to play Deschain back in 2012. After Warner Bros. decided to pass on the film, Sony Pictures took on the project and there have been rumors that Elba will portray Deschain.

There have also been speculations that Academy Award winner McConaughey will play The Man in Black in the film adaptation, however, the news has yet to be confirmed.

Kershaw started modeling in 2007 and has appeared in campaigns for Burberry and Gucci. She is best known for playing one of the Immortal Joe's wives, The Dag, in George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road. Kershaw will appear in the fantasy flick Gods of Egypt, which also stars Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Chadwick Boseman of Captain America: Civil War.

The Dark Tower is scheduled for release on January 13, 2017.
