5 Reasons We'll Miss David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson The X-Files Revival After Finale On Fox!

Back by popular demand, Fox will air the finale episode of the revival of The X-Files. This is the prefect opportunity to check up on the agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) in episodes 1 through 5.

As we previously mentioned,14 years have passed since FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were on the TV screen solving weird and supernatural cases. The reboot of Fox's popular sci-fi series continues with an all-new 6 episode arc. Not only did the two leads come back to reprise their iconic roles, creator Chris Carter took over as showrunner once again for the franchise that launched his and many other careers.

5) More Relevant Than Ever!

In the revival premiere, My Struggle, Mulder realized that the Roswell crash was just smokescreen. Humans have been using alien technology for darker purposes. At its best, the show questions authority; how much of our freedom should we sacrifice in order to feel safe?There is nothing scarier than a government-controlled alien spaceship. In Babylon, Scully witnessed the extremes of human nature, learning how words and beliefs hold weight, while turning it into a weapon.

4) Scully Is Still Badass!

In Home Again, Scully beat the crap out of a prowler, who attacked her in the dark basement. All in one take, Scully knocked him down and took his gun, without even breaking a sweat. In Mulder and Scully Meet The Were-Monster, we don't even need to see Dana give her perp a beatdown. When the dialogue turns to William and her mother, oh man does Anderson give a truly heartbreaking performance. Emmy winner right here ladies and gentleman!

3) The Meta Messages!

In Mulder and Scully Meet The Were-Monster, Fox made a sneaky reference to Gillian Anderson's role in Hannibal; "You've seen one serial killer, you've seen them all." In Babylon, Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose showed up as special agents Miller and Einstein, a callback to the Season One relationship between the inseparable twosome. Even Scully mentioned she's been waiting 23 years to say "FBI's most unwanted."

2) The Easter Eggs!

In Mulder and Scully Meet The Were-Monster, Mulder arrives at the cemetery and places flowers on Kim Manners' grave. Hardcore fans will recognize the name of the Supernatural executive producer directed the ninth season finale, The Truth. Written on his tombstone were the exact words Manners would always say before starting a take, "Let's Kick It In The Ass." Hell, even the Lone Gunmen made a return in Babylon.

1) The Feels! The Feels!

In this critic's opinion, the episode that hit all the emotional points was definitely Founder's Mutation. Writer/director James Wong (Final Destination) recreated Samantha's abduction shot-for-shot as Mulder helplessly watched his son being taken away. Mark Snow's music was just pitch-perfect as Mulder stared at William's wrinkly photo. It made me want to believe again!
