Darth Vader was a central piece in the first two Star Wars trilogies, from his descent to the Dark Side as a young man in episodes 1 through 3 to his evil rule and ultimate redemption in episodes 4 to 6. Now, with a new trilogy started by The Force Awakens, his presence is definitely there but barely mentioned -- but it seems like a cut flashback scene saw otherwise.

According to Making Star Wars, a new book regarding Rey's backstory in the film, Star Wars The Force Awakens: Rey's Story, was just released, and it throws some light on a possible flashback scene with a duel between father and son, Anakin and Luke Skywalker.

In the scene, which would have been a longer version of the Maz Kanata bar flashback scene when Rey touches Luke's lightsaber, one of the visions Daisy Ridley's character has is Luke and Vader fighting in what sounds like the iconic Cloud City scene from The Empire Strikes Back.

"As she peered into the distance, she saw a man in black wielding a red lightsaber," reads the scene from the book, via The Guardian. "His face was covered with a mask, molded to approximate a human face. But the mask's eyes were dead and empty. The man's red lightsaber clashed against a brilliant beam of blue. A young man with blond hair raised his own lightsaber and fought furiously against the monster in black."

While the scene is vague because Rey doesn't really know who she's looking at, it definitely sounds like arguably the most iconic scene from the entire saga.

Reports claim that the scene may have been shot, and it would have been a different viewing point than the original movie. Perhaps when it's time for Force Awakens home releases, fans will get a glimpse of that new version.
