A Viking will rule in the upcoming NBC spinoff of the Liam Neeson hit movie Taken! Clive Standen, who plays the troubled Rollo in the History Channel series Vikings, has just been cast in the lead role in Luc Besson's new TV show.

According to Deadline, Standen will portray a younger version of Neeson's Taken character Bryan Mills and the show will focus on his time with the CIA. Homeland's Alex Cary will serve as showrunner for the Taken TV series, which he will also executive produce with Besson. The pilot episode will be directed by The West Wing's Alex Graves.

Standen fans will be happy to see more of the actor in a lead role, but this could also mean that Rollo will no longer be a part of Vikings. The trailer for Vikings Season 4 has revealed that the brother of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) has settled down in France and married the French princess. However, it also hints on Rollo defying Ragnar once again. And this time, he commits a crime that is unforgivable by his own brother.

So is this the end of Rollo in Vikings? Will Ragnar finally slay his defiant brother? The character has already gone through two near-death experiences over the course of the show, but Deadline suggests that Rollo might not get killed off just yet. Instead, there might be a possibility that Rollo will become a recurring character. Standen will still appear in Vikings as a guest star in Season 5.

The character Rollo is loosely based on a real-life ruler of Normandy who originated from Scandinavia. The previous season of Vikings had already alluded to the legend of the real Rollo, when the character was awarded some land as well as the hand of the princess.

There is no word yet on when the Taken series will start production, but you can still see Standen as Rollo in Vikings Season 4, which airs on the History Channel every Thursday night.
