The Marvel flick, Captain America: Civil War, is guaranteed to be a star-studded movie, boasting a supporting cast that includes The Hobbit's Martin Freeman and William Hurt. Now, it has been confirmed that Gwyneth Paltrow will reprise her role as Tony Stark's girlfriend, Pepper Potts, and Civil War will definitely be connected to the two-part Avengers: Infinity War!

Paltrow's appearance in Civil War was confirmed by Empire magazine (via Comic Book Resources), where it is reported that the Iron Man actress was part of the film's recent reshoots with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans.

It's no surprise that Pepper will return in Civil War. Although the character was only mentioned in Avengers: Age of Ultron, she has appeared in all three Iron Man movies as well as the first Avengers film. There is a possibility that Pepper will once again serve as Tony's voice of reason as he tries to defeat Steve Rogers.

Pepper's return in Civil War might actually hint at just how huge the Infinity War movies will be, and co-director Joe Russo has confirmed that the film will be connected to the last two Avengers flicks.

"We wanted Winter Soldier, Civil War, and the Infinity War films to have a strong through line," Russo told Empire. "We look at this movie as setting the stage for Infinity War, how it starts and what condition everybody is in."

Russo directed Civil War with his brother Anthony, and they are also responsible for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The Russo brothers have already been reported to direct both Infinity War movies.

Captain America: Civil War will mark the return of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch and Don Cheadle as War Machine. The film will premiere on May 6 while Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and 2 are scheduled for release in May 2018 and May 2019 respectively.
