It's Marnie's "Wedding Day" on the Girls season 5 premiere, and as you'll read on this episode 1 recap, that doesn't mean the four ladies from Lena Dunham's HBO series have things even remotely figured out. In a new episode plagued with immaturity around Marnie's big day, everything seems to go wrong, including rain ... and the groom basically flipping out.

In the show, it's been months between the season 4 finale and the wedding. Shoshanna Shapiro (Zosia Mamet) has been living in Japan for the past seven months, and she's in a long-distance relationship, presumably with Scott (Jason Ritter). Marnie Michaels (Allison Williams, who recently tied the knot in real life to Rick Van Veen) has turned into passive-aggressive Bridezilla, Hannah Horvath (Dunham) is exactly the same and Jessa Johansson (Jemima Kirke) remains sober and has somehow managed to become an uplifting, happy person.

The episode, which takes place in some beautiful out-of-Manhattan location for an outside wedding, sees Marnie going crazy over every little thing that could go wrong in the wedding -- including the possibility of rain.

As girls and guys are separated ahead of the big event, Hannah's boyfriend, Fran (Jake Lacy), drops by the estrogen side to visit, and Marnie flips out because he "has an actual penis." The bride then tells Shosh to get rid of him, and, when Shosh politely asks him to go, Marnie makes sure to say she doesn't have a problem with him being there, but if Shosh wants him out, that's her business -- this is the kind of crazy Marnie's reaching.

Still, she does have reasons. Hannah is mildly freaking out about Marnie marrying, particularly because she barely knows the groom, Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), which Marnie says only happened because Hannah doesn't even bother to inquire about her anymore. Besides, Marnie's mother (Rita Wilson) is being the least supportive mom ever and, where her daughter wears a flower crown, she even tells her she looks like a Starbucks cup.

Also, Marnie hires Bebe (Bridget Everett), a make-up artist who once did Sophia Bush's makeup to do the same for her during her big day. The result? Everybody, herself included, looks a little like a clown; magically, though, suddenly super aware Jessa saves the day and does their hair and makeup to perfection.

On the boys' side, the equation is a little different. Desi, who continues to be as ridiculous as the past season, meditates and tells all the guys he loves them, even Fran, whose name he can't even remember. Still, right before the wedding he panics and runs away from the house, jumping to a lake to swim his sorrows away --- and it's Ray Ploshansky (Alex Karpovsky) who has to step in to convince him otherwise, even though he's still in love with Marnie.

During Desi's little breakdown, we find out a fairly creepy thing about him: he's been engaged eight times counting Marnie, but this was the first time he ever went through with a wedding. It's Fran who first hears of this and tells Hannah, who is about to tell Marnie and make her wedding even more miserable but the rain stops her, as she was outside in a car fooling around with her boyfriend.

On that note, things are obviously pretty awkward between Fran and Adam Sackler (Adam Driver), considering the latter's rocky on-and-off relationship with Hannah. Still, they live through it, but some more drama ensues when Adam and Jessa share a moment and kiss, and although nobody saw them, it's pretty clear this will lead to issues later on.

Ultimately, things are resolved, the sun shines once again and the episode ends with Marnie and her bridesmaids walking towards the ceremony -- and obviously, this is just where the story begins.

The next episode of Girls will be on next Sunday night on HBO.
