NBC is planning a new pilot set in the DC Comics Multiverse, dealing not with the likes of mega superheroes like Batman and Superman, but rather on those people who clean up their messes. In the new series Powerless, a comedy currently very early in production, deals with the characters of a regular insurance company office in a city protected by supers -- and Vanessa Hudgens will lead the way!

According to Variety, Hudgens is now the first performer cast in the pilot, which will deal with an insurance company going crazy with the messes superheroes make in one city. At this point, it's still unclear which DC city will this take place, whether it'll be Gotham, Metropolis or some other DCU town.

Hudgens will be taking the role of Emily Locke, whose job in the firm happens to be an insurance claim adjuster. While she loves her job and tries to be discreet doing it, she understandably finds herself often exasperated with the mess superheroes make everywhere.

Hudgens, of course, became an international superstar as a teenager a decade ago, when she played the role of Gabriella on the Disney Channel megahit High School Musical. While she's remained active, Hudgens has mostly slowed down in the past few years --- but last month, she made a triumphant return on television playing Rizzo in Fox's TV special Grease Live!

Interestingly enough, although the biggest roles of Hudgens' career have been on television, in fact this would be her first-ever regular role on a series.

As Deadline reports, Powerless is being presented as a workplace comedy, and it will also be a single-camera show. Set in one of the worst insurance companies in America (understandably so, because most probably don't get quite as much destruction).

The show, Warner Bros. Television's latest foray into DC Comics adaptations, comes from A to Z creator Ben Queen, who is set to write and executive produce the show.
