Will Jon Bernthal's The Punisher Star in His Own Series Soon?

Jeph Loeb has finally spoken up about the rumors surrounding The Punisher on Netflix!

Remember when it was rumored that Jon Bernthal's Daredevil character The Punisher would star in his own Netflix series? People simply cannot stop talking about the possibility of Frank Castle having his own show.

The Marvel Television executive vice president recently spoke to Digital Spy, where he confirmed that Bernthal's The Punisher will not be getting his own show anytime soon.

"I think that's something that people are speculating on, as opposed to something that's actually happening," Loeb said.

Although it sounds like a Punisher solo series isn't in Loeb's immediate plans, he did add that he wants fans to react to Bernthal's character in a positive way when Daredevil Season 2 finally debuts.

"It's certainly our hope that any of our characters will be embraced and that people want to see more of them," he said.

The speculations about a Punisher TV series surfaced last year, probably stemming from the long delay in the planned Netflix show featuring Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist. Although Marvel's plans for shows were announced to be Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders, there were rumors that Iron Fist has been canceled and the Punisher will be getting a show instead.

Luckily, Loeb himself cleared up the rumors by announcing that Iron Fist series will be released after the premiere of Luke Cage this year.

Although it doesn't look like a Punisher solo series will happen in the future, there will be plenty of action for Bernthal's character in the second season of Daredevil. Bernthal's appearance in the show has been teased since the New York Comic-Con last year. However, the wait was definitely worth it when the Punisher finally showed up in the latest Daredevil Season 2 trailer.
