22 years after the first time Leonardo DiCaprio's name was included in an Academy Awards nomination ballot for What's Eating Gilbert Grape, the actor was finally rewarded for his incredible talent, taking the Oscar for The Revenant. The Internet had been waiting for this event for years, and nobody was disappointed: here are some of the best moments of DiCaprio's big night!

These are 4 of the most amazing things that happened when DiCaprio finally got his Oscar.

1. The Entire Dolby Theater Gave Him a Standing Ovation.

It wasn't just the Internet cheering for DiCaprio last Sunday night, it was the entire audience at the Academy Awards. As his name was finally called out on Oscar night after years of incredible performances, everyone in the theater got up to celebrate DiCaprio, who's considered the greatest actor of his generation by more than a few people.

DiCaprio actually had to pause for a little bit before he began his speech because of the outpour of love. He also looked adorably embarrassed as his peers cheered for him -- just in case this man doesn't know how talented he is, these guys must have made him feel deserving.

2. Best Actor Nominees Looked So Happy to See DiCaprio Up There

The camera showed fellow nominees like Michael Fassbender (nominated for Steve Jobs), Bryan Cranston (Trumbo) and last year's winner Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl) looking very proud over this amazing achievement. There's no shame in losing out to DiCaprio, at this point it's a huge honor just to be in the same category as he is.

3. Kate Winslet Got All Emotional

Short of Jacob Tremblay getting all psyched when C3P0, R2-D2 and BB-8 showed up on stage, this might have been the cutest moment in the entire night. Both Winslet and DiCaprio rose to superstardom with Titanic and, whatever you might think of the film, the story of Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater is one for film history.

Over the course of this year's awards season, the two stars, who are friends in real life and also starred together on Revolutionary Road, were photographed together a bunch of times, breaking the Internet with each passing snap.

While Winslet unfortunately lost her own category and the dream of seeing the two of them together with brand new Oscars didn't come true, the actress' reaction showed us that she definitely regretted leaving him to die in the icy cold North Atlantic.

4. DiCaprio's Actual Speech

Everyone in the theater and back home was cheering and losing their cool when DiCaprio's name was finally announced, but the actor managed to keep his poise throughout the whole thing. Without shaking or stuttering, the still visibly excited star shouted out to some of the biggest names out there, including calling Tom Hardy his "brother" and thanking legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese for everything he'd taught him.

DiCaprio, a very vocal advocate for the environment, also took the time to speak of the big issues, reminding everyone that climate change is real and it's endangering humans as a species, and Earthlings as a whole.

In any case, the day has finally arrived and as any simple Google search will tell you, Leonardo DiCaprio is now officially an Academy Award winner. Congratulations, nobody deserves it more than you!
