It's been awhile since Liev Schreiber has appeared as Sabretooth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the 48-year-old actor is clearly still in shape as he attended the Academy Awards last Sunday. So is it possible that the Spotlight star could reprise his role as Hugh Jackman's half-brother Victor Creed in the highly anticipated Wolverine 3?

MTV News spoke to Schreiber at the Oscars red carpet, where he revealed that his X-Men Origins costar had brought up the possibility of bringing Sabretooth back in the sequel.

"We talked about it," Schreiber admitted, adding that Jackman confirmed what Wolverine 3 will be about.

"I don't know. He's mentioned it to me. The Old Man Logan story - that's appealing. That's something that I can do," he said before joking, "Old, being the operative word."

Schreiber might joke about being old, but he certainly hasn't slowed down when it comes to making excellent films. He starred alongside Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Rachel McAdams in last year's Spotlight, which took home the Academy Award for Best Picture last Sunday. Hopefully, Schreiber will consider returning as Sabretooth in Wolverine 3.

At this point, it is no secret that Jackman is pushing for the third Wolverine solo film to follow the storyline of Mark Millar's comic book series. The actor has previously confirmed that he has already seen the full script but isn't ready to start filming unless everything is in place.

"I don't have a firm date yet," Jackman told Collider. "My thing and I've told you and I've told everyone, it's my last one, for me I want it to be perfect, so the moment I know it's perfect, bang, we'll go."

The Wolverine 3 will be directed by James Mangold and will also feature Patrick Stewart, who will reprise his role as Charles Xavier/Professor X. The film is scheduled for release on March 3, 2017.
