It's an urban legend that is backed by reality. In Star Wars, Harrison Ford's Han Solo was shot at by the Huttese bounty hunter Greedo in the Mos Eisley cantina but ends up being killed by the smuggler. However, audiences who saw the original film back in 1977 insist that they saw Han shoot at Greedo first. Although there is barely any surviving footage of the said scene. Now it looks like Peter Mayhew, the man who played Chewbacca has revealed some evidence that Han indeed shot first!

Mayhew recently made news for sharing the original Star Wars script on Twitter, so it's no surprise that the actor revealed the page featuring Han's encounter with Greedo. The script shows that the bounty hunter was originally named Allen (a possible typo of "Alien") and he didn't even have time to draw his gun. "#chewscript 014 Han Shot First. Period. @starwars," Mayhew captioned the post.

You can get a better look at the page here. Mayhew's script clearly shows that Greedo, er, Allen tried to convince Han to leave the cantina but the Millennium Falcon captain resists by simply shooting his enemy under the table. Interestingly, Allen is described as "a slimy alien" who "disappears in a blinding flash of light."

George Lucas has famously changed several things about Episode IV: A New Hope, from Luke Skywalker's name to the film's title (the script indicates that it was going to be known as The Adventures of Luke Starkiller, as taken from the "Journal of the Whills" Saga I: Star Wars). However, the switch from Han shooting Greedo first to the alien making the first move is one of the most infamous changes that most fans believe has altered the way the film should be seen. Nevertheless, the new scene certainly made Han more likeable to audiences.
