While the new Baywatch movie reboot is still trying to bag a cameo from original C.J. Parker Pamela Anderson, the man who was present in every iteration of the lifeguards franchise has officially joined the cast: David Hasselhoff, the first Mitch Buchannon, will come back for a role on Dwayne Johnson's reboot!

Johnson took to his Facebook to confirm the news that the actor/singer would be joining the cast of the new film, which is planned as an R-Rated comedy and "a combination of Avengers meets Anchorman."

Besides a long post recounting how successful the series franchise had been and how proud they were of having Hasselhoff joining the new version, Johnson also added a clip of himself Facetiming with The Hoff, where the two expressed their excitement over the new project. In Hasselhoff's words, he was "rocking the Hoff" in the film!

Johnson will be taking on the role made famous by The Hoff, so it's unclear who will the 80's superstar will be playing on the new film. Though it seems a new bromance is forming between the two famously charming actors. Still, the movie should at the very least include a shot of Hasselhoff in the iconic suit, or even running on the beach.

Besides producing Baywatch for about 20 years, Hoff played Mitch in numerous projects of the franchise, from the original series to spinoffs like Baywatch Nights and the reunion special Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding. The actor, who's one of the people most willing to not take himself seriously in Hollywood, has no shame in referencing and joking about Baywatch left and right.

Much like The Hoff did in his time, Johnson is producing the film as well as starring as Mitch, in a film that also stars Zac Efron as Matt Brody and Kelly Rohrbach as C.J. Parker.

The Baywatch movie, which will be released in the spring of 2017, began shooting last week.
