There is little doubt that the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) has a trusted ally in Sean Pertwee's Alfred Pennyworth in Season 2 of the Fox series Gotham. Alfred may be a tad overprotective (and sometimes a little too slap-happy) of his young ward, but the butler always manages to keep Bruce safe. However, Mazouz has just dropped hints that the future Batman could leave Alfred behind to go with Wayne Enterprises employee Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk)!

Mazouz recently attended the Gotham winter premiere party, where he spoke to TVLine about the difference in his character's dynamic with Alfred and Lucius.

"Alfred, Bruce is kind of stuck with. And Alfred is a protector of Bruce, whereas Lucius really encourages the investigation [into Wayne Enterprises]," Mazouz said, adding that Lucius isn't too protective of Bruce.

"He cares about Bruce's safety, but he's not so overwhelmed with safeguarding him," he said about Lucius.

The 15-year-old actor also teased on the possibility that Bruce could eventually abandon his trusty butler in favor of his new mentor by the season finale.

"Toward the end of the season, Lucius and Bruce will go on a journey together - with or without Alfred," Mazouz revealed.

Lucius has also been a very useful ally for Bruce, and there is a possibility that the young boy feels like he has more freedom to do what he needs to with his new mentor's guidance.

The decision to leave Alfred may have a lot to do with the butler's fierce overprotectiveness of Bruce, who is eager to learn more about what his parents' company has been doing without his knowledge. Since Lucius actually pushes Bruce in the right direction, it is only fitting that the boy would choose to be mentored by the young Fox.

"A Dead Man Feels no Cold," the next episode of Gotham Season 2, will air on Fox on March 7.
