Season 5 of Person of Interest will definitely premiere on CBS sometime in 2016. In the upcoming 13 episodes, will anti-heroine Root (Amy Acker) "end up losing" Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) in the war between Samaritan and The Machine?

In our fourth season finale recap, the war between the Machine and Samaritan left casualties and forged new alliances in its wake. After presumed dead, Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) was last seen walking away willingly with Samaritan's agents. While Samaritan was executing its master plan, Greer's men put a bag over Control (Camryn Manheim)'s head and took her hostage. In the cliff-hanger, as Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine started playing, Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) walked out, with no gun, alongside Reese (Caviezel) and Root (Amy Acker) as they started shooting down Samaritan's agents.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The L Word actress has landed the lead role of the upcoming Nancy Drew series. Shahi has been cast as the popular sleuth for the eye network's Drew pilot. In this modern reboot, Nancy (Shahi) is now in her 30s, serving as a detective for the NYPD. Just as she did as a child, Drew continues to investigate and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills.

Among the cast, Anthony Edwards (ER) co-stars as Nancy's adoptive father and Vanessa Ferlito (Graceland) will play George.

What does this mean for Person of Interest? We know that Shahi will return for half of the remaining episodes, but it does give fans major doubt that the POI will be renewed for another season. We can evens speculate that Shaw will end up becoming a casualty; she was MIA before.

As we previously mentioned, executive producer J.J. Abrams revealed during the Television Critics Association winter press tour, "My guess is [Season 5] is the final season. The only heartbreak there is how much good story there was to come if it were to have continued."

Person of Interest will return to CBS sometime in 2016.
