'The Jungle Book' Movie Update: Priyanka Chopra & Irrfan Khan to Voice the Film?

Quantico star Priyanka Chopra and Inferno star Irrfan Khan, along with Nana Patekar and Om Puri, have been reportedly roped in to lend their voices for the Indian (Hindi) version of Disney's The Jungle Book.

In The Jungle Book, Bollywood actress, Chopra, who is currently shooting for Quantico Season 2 and the movie adaptation of Baywatch, has agreed to give the voice for the character of Kaa, the python who was originally voiced by Scarlett Johansson. According to Times of India, Khan has also agreed to give the voice for the character of Baloo, the friendly bear who was originally voiced by Bill Murray. At the same time, Shefali Shah, who is currently working on Commando 2, will give voice to Raksha the Wold, who was portrayed by Lupita Nyong'o in the English version of The Jungle Book.

India's veteran actor, Puri, will lend his voice to Bagheera, the panther, who was originally voiced by Academy Winner Ben Kingsley in the American version. Also, Patekar will dub for Shere Khan, the self-professed ruler of the jungle, portrayed by Idris Elba in the original.

The Jungle Book will follow the story of Mowgli (Neel Sethi) a human cub raised by the Indian wolves Raksha and Aklla in an Indian jungle. Mowgli has to leave his home after the fearsome scarred Bengal tiger, Shere Khan, threatens his life since man is not allowed in the jungle.

The Jungle Book was directed by Iron Man director, Jon Favreau, and was written by Justin Marks and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. The live-action film is scheduled to be released in the Disney Digital 3D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D formats on April 15, 2016. It was earlier reported by The Hollywood Reporter that The Jungle Book is scheduled to be released in India on April 8, a week ahead of its American debut.
