Emma Watson, who grew up before the eyes of the world thanks to her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, has been making a serious second career out of feminism in the past couple of years. Recently, the leading spokeswoman for the United Nations' HeForShe campaign talked about being a feminist in today's world, including being called a "diva" or a "feminazi."

The Perks of Being a Wallflower actress recently sat down with Esquire, one of the most male-focused magazines in the world, to discuss feminism and how it affects mankind, well beyond the issues women face all over the globe.

During her interview, the magazine asked Watson about what she thought of the current wave of high-profile women in Hollywood who are speaking out against the gender pay gap. Watson explained that women were often branded names like "feminazi" or "diva" when they openly discussed the terms of their salary.

"There's a willingness now to be like, 'Fine. Call me a "diva", call me a "feminazi", call me "difficult", call me a "First World feminist", call me whatever you want, it's not going to stop me from trying to do the right thing and make sure that the right thing happens,'" Watson explained about the current changes of attitude in women in the workplace, particularly in Hollywood. "Because it doesn't just affect me, it affects all the other women who are in this with me, and it affects all the other men who are in this with me, too."

Famously, Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence was paid considerably less than her male co-stars in American Hustle, a fact that got leaked when Sony Pictures was hacked. When addressing the issue in an essay posted on Lena Dunham's Lenny newsletter, the Hunger Games star revealed one of the reasons she hadn't negotiated the contract properly was so she wasn't seen as "difficult" or "spoiled."

As feminism becomes the focus of attention, the fear of being labeled over a desire to be paid equally for the same amount of work will begin to die down in Hollywood, and hopefully in the rest of the world as well.
