Anyone who has seen the second Captain America: Civil War trailer would be quick to see the deterioration in the relationship between Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). However, co-director Anthony Russo has just confirmed that the film will also focus heavily on the dynamics between Steve and his best friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), who will undoubtedly be one of the first members of Team Captain America!

Russo, along with brother and co-director Joe as well as the cast of Civil War, recently participated in a Q&A with BuzzFeed's Answer Time. One fan asked about the "most compelling aspect of Steve and Bucky's current relationship," and the director had an interesting response.

"The relationship between Steve and Bucky is one of my brother's and my favorite aspects of the Captain America movies," Russo admitted before explaining what makes the duo, affectionately known as "Stucky," work so well for the storyline.

"It's so complex and tragic," he said. "They have a devotion to one another that is undermined and devastated by fate, and exploring how they endure that is fascinating for us as storytellers and fans."

Russo also revealed that the third Captain America film will explore a new aspect in Steve and Bucky's brotherhood.

"We feel Civil War is the best chapter yet in the story of their relationship," he said, adding that Bucky will be undergoing major emotional and psychological changes.

"The character has gone from being Bucky Barnes to being the Winter Soldier, and now in this movie he is something else," Russo said. "We explore whether he and Steve can ever have a relationship again and, if so, what that relationship can be."

Steve and Bucky might be working together in Civil War, but it looks like they could have a hard time defeating Tony now that Tom Holland's Spider-Man is confirmed for Team Iron Man.

Captain America: Civil War opens on May 6.
