Fox has renewed Season 3 of the Batman prequel series, Gotham. Towards the end of Season 2, Will detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and gangster Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) be able to survive what their enemies have in store with the Wrath of the Villains finale?

In our previous recap, Jim's plan of using Nora as bait backfired on him when Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) became involved. Elsewhere, Bruce Wayne continued his search for Matches Malone. After his cure failed to save Nora, Victor committed suicide and froze himself to death. While Leslie and Jim's relationship is on the rocks, Mr. Freeze rises from the dead as Strange's latest experiment. Though Alfred (Sean Pertwee) is working with Wayne, Bruce asks for Selina (Camren Bicondova)'s help to get him a gun.

In our recent recap, Alfred's fight with The Mutants led him straight to the hospital, with Bruce going solo on his quest for vengeance. After a run-in with Jerry (Lori Petty), Bruce stood face-to-face with Matches Malone (Michael Bowen). Knowing he isn't a monster that he imagined, Bruce refuses to pull the trigger and shoot him. After Malone's suicide, Bruce goes into hiding with Selina as he searches for some meaning in Gotham. Elsewhere, Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) has been released from Arkham as Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) is slowly becoming The Riddler.

According to TV Line, Fox president David Madden states, "It takes a very special team to tell the tales of Gotham. For the past two seasons, Bruno, Danny and John have masterfully honored the mythology of Gotham and brought it to life with depth, emotion and memorable high drama. This incredibly talented cast has redefined these iconic characters for a new generation, and we couldn't be more proud of this show."

On his official Instagram account, McKenize shares a snapshot and writes, "Happy to be (one of) the first to announce...we'll be back for another season! Hats off to a great cast and crew. #gotham"
