Ne-Yo and Crystal Renay's son is here! The newlyweds welcomed Shaffer Chimere Smith Jr. into the world via emergency cesarean section  on Tuesday, March 15. Little Shaffer is the couple's first child.

In the photo below, Renay writes that her labor was difficult and frightening. "It was the scariest delivery ever," the new mother wrote. "I ended up getting a emergency C-section cause of complications but with the help of my amazing doctor @drsherryr and my super calming husband @neyo I was able to get through it all and come out with best reward in the world... SJ!!!!!"

Baby Smith weighed in at 6 lbs., 8 oz and was measured at 19 inches long. Shaffer is the couple's first child together, but he has older siblings in Ne-Yo's two children with ex-fiancee Monyetta ShawMason Evan, 4, and Madilyn Grace, 5.

In a tender note to his baby boy, Ne-Yo wrote: "Welcome to the world lil' man. (HA! Mason's a big brother now)." He continued, "You got a BIG family lookin' out for you, immediate AND extended. And we all love you to death. Gonna do EVERYTHING in my power to make sure ALL my children never need for anything EVER. @iamcrystalrenay I love you lovely. Thank you for this amazing gift!"

Ne-Yo and Renay got married  Feb. 20 in Los Angeles, worried Renay would go into labor at any moment.

Renay joked during her wedding that she was more nervous about falling on her face than her water breaking during the ceremony.

MStars News is glad that Baby Smith arrived safely.
