The FlashSeason 2 fans who attended recent Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo were in for a treat when Keiynan Lonsdale answered several questions about his character Wally West while wearing a Flash T-shirt. The young Australian actor also revealed that he wasn't originally trying out for Kid Flash, but was actually auditioning for Firestorm in the CW's DC's Legends of Tomorrow!

According to Comic Book Resources, Lonsdale was present at C2E2 for a Q&A, where he admitted that while waiting for a call from Legends, he started watching the entire first season of The Flash to pass the time. Even though the Firestorm role eventually went to Franz Drameh, there was still good news for the young Australian actor.

"A week later, after I'd become obsessed with The Flash, my team calls me and says 'The other show didn't come through, but they want you to audition for Flash for this part called Kid Flash," Lonsdale shared, admitting that although he didn't know about the character, he immediately understood Wally's role in the comics.

"I hadn't read the comic book, but I was like 'I'm pretty sure I get what that means,'" he said.

Lonsdale also stated that he enjoyed playing up on Wally's relationship to his estranged father Joe, who is played by Jesse L. Martin in The Flash.

"The family dynamic is my favorite part of the show. Aside from the whole superhero dynamic, it's all about this family story," he said, adding that he is looking forward to finally playing Wally's alter ego in the future.

"It's cool to play a character that's growing in every episode, and he's hopefully growing into becoming Kid Flash one day," he said.

But what about the dynamic between Wally and Grant Gustin's Barry Allen? Lonsdale was quick to say that he is eager to see Barry begin his mentorship of his character.

"I'm really looking forward to Barry and Wally's relationship," he confirmed. "If you read the comics, you know how much Wally looks up to Barry, and that's what makes it so interesting to see how we're doing it now. I don't know what Wally's response will be when he learns that Barry is the Flash, but I know what I want it to be."

Catch Lonsdale as Wally/Kid Flash in the second season of The Flash, which returns to The CW on March 22.
