NBC continues after highly anticipated midseason premiere of Blindspot. In episode 14, will Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) be able to solve another piece of the tattoo map in Rules in Defiance?

One of Jane's tattoos lead the team towards a massive shootout in the middle of the streets. The FBI and local police end up shooting at house full of gunmen. Not only has Kurt and his team screwed up a three month sting operation, they stumbled upon a death row execution and a smuggling ring.

Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) warns the team that the judge has refused to give them more time and postpone the execution. Patterson (Ashley Johnson) has the name of the two corrupt cops but Kurt knows they are the middle men. With the clock ticking, the team needs to arrest the boss, the person in charge of the smuggling ring.

Knowing there is an innocent man being executed, Tasha (Audrey Esparza) takes the place of the next supposed victim. Patterson makes sure there is a tracking device on Tasha, so that Kurt and the others can find her. Jane continues to argue with her therapist about whether or not she should leave the FBI.

When Edgar (Rob Brown) reveals he's in love, Kurt doesn't want to hear anymore, especially since they're on the job. Edgar then makes fun of Kurt because his mind has been clouded with Jane. As the transport bus makes an unscheduled pit stop, Tasha is suddenly drugged and kidnapped.

Kurt tells Edgar to stop the car when he realizes Tasha isn't inside the bus. Tasha wakes up and discovers her tracking device is missing. Patterson spots Tasha in the surveillance footage, but cannot tell where the smugglers have taken her.

Jane wants to get involved when she hears Zapata is in danger. Tasha leans marabout the smuggling ring and sees the scars on the kidnapped victims. Jane and Patterson think that a gated community could be the location of the smuggling hideout.

After Tasha fights back, two men with guns show up all of a sudden. The smugglers realize Tasha isn't the person they were supposed to pick up. The main boss has to cut the brother party short, knowing the feds are coming for her.

After the kidnapped women are rounded up, Tasha is trapped with the other women in a burning building. After Tasha breaks herself free, she helps the women escape. As the fire spreads, Kurt and Edgar un into the burning building. After kicking the door down, they grab Tasha and run out before ceiling collapses.

The team finds relief knowing that they saved an innocent man from death row. Jane then meets up with Tasha, who realizes they saved the women thanks to the tattoos. Jane tells Kurt that she missed the team. Kurt then meets with Allie (Trieste Kelly Dunn) and asks her out.

During his investigation, Edgar is suddenly knocked out by a masked man. Though Oscar had planned everything, Jane refuses to be his asset in the FBI. If Jane refuses to cooperate, Oscar warns that the people in charge will kill Weller.
