Over 20 years after the end of MacGyver, CBS is bringing back the character once played by Richard Dean Anderson as the network's planning a reboot of the man who could build anything out of the most simple and random things. Lucas Till, who will be reprising his role of mutant Havoc in this year's X-Men: Apocalypse, will be taking the role of Angus MacGyver!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Till is the main cast member in a new series of announcements of the upcoming reboot, which for now is just a pilot, and the studio went through a long search to cast its lead to see who would be stepping into Anderson's shoes.

Joining him will be Joshua Boone, who will be playing Gunner, McGyver's best friend from high school. George Eads, who played Nick Stokes in the long-running CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, will be taking the role of Lincoln, a government employee who acts rather like a conspiracy theorist.

More than a reboot of the story, the new pilot has been described as a "reimagined" version of MacGyver's story from his younger years, as Till will be playing the character when he's in his 20-somethings. The new show will follow the character as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization, where he begins putting his "knack for solving problems in unconventional ways" to good use, keeping mayhem at bay.

Lionsgate, the company that owns the rights to the franchise, won't stop the revival phase at just a new series: last month, the studio announced via Variety that there are also plans for a movie. With series creator, Lee David Zlotoff, and Fast and the Furious producer Neal Moritz on board, little is known about the appearance MacGyver will be making on screen, but much like the growing DC Comics TV/Movie universe, there will be different versions of the same property at a time.
