Do you need more cowbell? Who doesn't love the famous "Saturday Night Live" skit featuring Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken asking for more cowbell? The SNL skit has become a cult classic, becoming the punch line to millions of jokes since the segment first aired. Now, years later, the cowbell has returned and it's being used by credible musicians during an actual show. That's right, Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder joined Queens of the Stone Age on stage during Lollapalooza Chile and decided to use his musical talents to play the cowbell.
Queens of the Stone Age are out performing and promoting their new album Like Clockwork, which is expected to be out in June 2013. There will be a number of famous musicians collaborating on the album with them including, Nine Inch Nails singer Trent Reznor, Elton John, and Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl. Clearly the band has no problem getting help from fellow music stars.
Vedder's performance on vocals and the cowbell for the band's hit single "Little Sister" is especially awesome because of the history behind the cowbell. You can watch Vedder's performance at Lollapalooza Chile below. Now if only we could get Will Ferrell to join Queens of the Stone Age on stage.
Lollapalooza will be making a stop in the U.S. in Chicago's Grant Park this summer from August 2 through the 4th. There are a number of big bands expected to perform, including Nine Inch Nails, the Cure, and the Killers.
Queens of the Stone Age's new album, Like Clockwork, will be released June 3. The band already released a full track listing for their sixth album. The first single on the new album is "My God is The Sun." Check out the full track list below.
