Robbie and Stephen Amell are more than just cousins who enjoy playing DC superheroes on TV. The stars of The Flash and Arrow have just collaborated on a sci-fi flick called Code 8, where people with superpowers are being arrested for using their skills. Robbie has just discussed his collaboration with Stephen and even commented on Firestorm creator Gerry Conway's praise for his version of Ronnie Raymond!

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Robbie admitted that he, Stephen and Code 8 director Jeff Chan have been planning the collaboration for ages.

"Stephen, Jeff and I have all wanted to work together for a long time," he said, adding that they eventually decided to create their own film when they couldn't find a movie that they all agreed on.

"We always talked about it; we were open to finding projects. Then one night we were sitting around and we were like, 'Why don't we just make a project?' We brainstormed some ideas. Jeff and his writing partner Chris [Paré], wrote the short," he continued.

Robbie also revealed that the Code 8 short was filmed while Stephen was working on Arrow as well as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, where he will portray Casey Jones. Although Stephen is not in the short, Robbie revealed that his cousin will appear in the full-length movie, since it will be filmed while he is taking a break from being Oliver Queen.

"The feature film would be shot during Stephen's hiatus so that he can be a part of it," Robbie confirmed.

Despite all his success, it looks like playing Firestorm is one of Robbie's greatest achievements. The 27-year-old spoke up about Conway's comment, where the comic book writer offered praises for his version of the character.

"That's super-cool. I didn't know he said that. That means a lot," Robbie said, stating that he would be happy to play Firestorm again in the future.

"It's been a privilege to play that character. I'll play him as long as The Flash will have me back and let me," he said.
