Fans were undoubtedly thrilled when it was announced that Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett will be taking on a mystery role in the highly anticipated Marvel sequel, Thor: Ragnarok. Now the Lord of the Rings actress has confirmed that she is "excited" about working on "a Marvel film," but the question remains: will the actress portray the major villain in the third Thor movie?

Blanchett was recently a guest on a Korean TV show, where she shared that one of the projects she will be working on is "a Marvel film," admitting that she is "super, super excited about" it.

In addition to that, the Carol actress stated that her new role is somehow different from the previous characters she had played.

"I've only done action a couple of times. It feels like a...departure is too strong a word, but it certainly feels like a change for me," Blanchett said, adding that she needs to be prepared for her character's tight clothing.

"I'm looking forward to getting really fit, and wearing Lycra, and hoping to earn a bit of a street cred from my kids," she concluded.

It certainly sounds like Blanchett will be playing a character who likes to show off her figure, but does this mean that she will indeed be the villain in Ragnarok? Mark Ruffalo, who has been previously confirmed to appear as The Hulk in the sequel, has already confirmed that the actress will be the main antagonist in the film.

"She's just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting," Ruffalo said of Blanchett in a quick interview with Entertainment Tonight during the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party.

There are speculations that Blanchett will play Marvel villainess Hela, the Asgardian goddess of Death or Amora the Enchantress.

Thor: Ragnarok will be directed by Taika Waititi and will mark the return of Chris Hemsworth as the titular Odinson. The film is scheduled for release on November 3, 2017.
