5 Potential TV Shows Pitched By Martin Sheen In Wake Of ‘O.J. Simpson Is Innocent’ Series

It seems 20 years after his trial of the century, O.J. Simpson is once again good for ratings. On the heels of FX's popular American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson and before ESPN's upcoming O.J.: Made in America series, Emmy winner Martin Sheen announced he will produce and narrate a new project that will prove the 68-year-old disgraced football legend is innocent.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the true crime docuseries, titled Hard Evidence: O.J. Is Innocent, will air early next year on the Investigation Discovery channel. Sheen, best known for his role on the The West Wing, claims "What if there were enough evidence that proved O.J. Simpson did not murder his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson or Ron Goldman? What if the real killer were still at large? And finally, what if a grand jury convened to reconsider the case based on new evidence?"

The six-part series will supposedly offer other theories and potential new evidence based on the findings of private investigator William C. Dear who wrote the book O.J. is Innocent and I Can Prove It. "This revealing series will now show you what may have really happened based upon all the facts, so for the first time, you will be able to judge for yourself. I am certain viewers will be shocked to learn who O.J. may have actually been covering up for. I'm hoping that when we do this series, the evidence should be more than enough to get a grand jury indictment. If I accomplish that, I will have accomplished a great deal in my life."

President for Investigation Discovery Henry Schleiff stated when he was an executive at HBO he knew Simpson who at the time was starring in the series 1st & Ten. "I've always personally believed that (Simpson) did it - all the evidence pointed to it," said Schleiff who added "The material that Dear has amassed in his long obsession with the Simpson saga is really fascinating."
