Production of Avatar 2 will finally start from April and after that, fans might get a confirmation on the release date. James Cameron recently provided on a small update of the movie that hints that the 20th Century Fox is moving ahead with the project.

While supporting The Dark House in New Zealand, Cameron talked about Avatar 2. Although the world-acclaimed director refused to shed light on major plot details, he did confirm that the production team is currently working on motion capture technology. The Titanic director was quoted by Cinema Blend as:

"We do performance capture work. You have to think of it more like an animated film, so it's not really shooting per se. It's a lot of performance capture work, so yeah, we're getting into that. ... It's top secret. Remember The Manhattan Project, did they talk about that?"

Motion/ Performance Capture Technology is a type of acting in which an actor wears sensors on a skintight bodysuit. Several cameras from different angles record the actor's movements, and at the same time recording the 3D position of the sensors and not recording the rest of the actor. As reported by Pop Matters, 2009's Avatar has made extensive use of this new motion capture filming techniques.

With several release dates pushed back, Avatar 2 was supposed to release around Dec. 25, 2017. From the recent revelations from the director James Cameron, it looks like the fans of Avatar have to wait a little longer for the most-awaited sequel.

It was earlier reported by Ecumenical News that Cameron does not want to think over the deadlines as it obstructs his creativity. The publication claimed that Cameron wants to work without keeping the pressure of release dates of all the Avatar parts, and as an artist, he thinks that his movies should be perfect whether they hit the theatres in months or in years.
