The music world had been anxiously awaiting news on electronic dance duo Daft Punk's 2013 tour. Finally, the French musicians have revealed information surrounding their new tour. To promote their new album "Random Access Memories" Daft Punk have selected Wee Waa, Australia as the location to kick off their world tour. The band announced their tour kicks off in the small country town May 17 for a "global album launch party."

Daft Punk's first album in eight years has been guarded with a lot of secrecy, but finally fans have some concrete information to get excited about. The tiny town of Wee Waa is obviously excited to be hosting the band. Mayor Conrad Bolton told The Courier that he thought Sony Music was pulling his leg when they inquired about Daft Punk performing in the tiny town. Well, apparently they aren't, as Daft Punk will perform at the Wee Waa Showground on the night of May 17 in an event that will also be streamed online to an international audience.

The small country town of Wee Waa, Australia is definitely a surprise pick to open up Daft Punk's 2013 world tour, but the French duo have been known to make creative decisions when it comes to promoting their music. Tickets to the show will be limited to just 4,000 with members of the Wee Waa Society being guaranteed tickets. This Friday tickets will go on sale, as the town of Wee Waa prepares for the big show.

Wee Waa Society president Brett Dickinson is understandably excited about the news. "It's great for Wee Waa and fantastic for the shire, the flow on effect from this will be fantastic, especially for all businesses in the area," Dickinson told The Courier. "We thought getting senator Fiona Nash to open the show was a bit of a coup, but now our show program has been bolstered 10-fold."

Daft Punk's 2013 tour dates haven't been announced in full yet, but with the first tour date made available you can be sure the rest are soon to follow. "Random Access Memories" will be released May 12 via Columbia Records.
