Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has certainly spawned several fan theories as to just what is happening in the film's confusing (yet brilliantly shot) Knightmare sequence, where Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne sees a post-apocalyptic future filled with parademons, an evil Superman (Henry Cavill) as well as several hints on the impending arrival of Darkseid. However, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox helmer Jay Oliva has just stated that it may not have been a dream but a direct connection to his movie!

Oliva recently spoke on the Hall of Justice Podcast, where he explained how Batman v Superman might have featured a "Time Boom."

"In the DC Universe in the comics, there's this thing where -- it's a little different than the Back to The Future thing where you can go back in time and change your threads and stuff, but in DC, when you go back in time, you create this kind of 'Time Boom' kind of thing where lots of things change," Oliva explained before revealing his own take on the Knightmare scene in the Zack Snyder movie.

"Okay, so let me just tell you this. Again, I don't know if this is Zack's thinking, but this is mine: What if that isn't a dream sequence?" he asked. "What if what you saw was a Time Boom, a latent memory from the future when Flash comes back?"

Oliva continued by pointing out that Bruce doesn't actually nod off while he was in front of his computers.

"If you look at the cut, he doesn't go to sleep! He's waiting for the [Lexcorp file decryption] and suddenly this [Knightmare sequence] comes in, and he's jogged out of it seeing his own death," he said, stating that the unexpected appearance of Ezra Miller's Speedster was the key.

"What does he see? He sees Flash. And if you're a DC fan, you know what's happening," Oliva continued. "You know that Flash going back in time, that memory is now coming back to him."

Interestingly, it was Cyborg and his friends who tried to recruit Batman in Flashpoint Paradox instead of the other way around. In Batman v Superman, Cyborg (Ray Fisher) is one of the individuals that Bruce discovers in the LexCorp files along with The Flash, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa).

What did you think of the Knightmare sequence in Batman v Superman? Do you agree with Jay Oliva? Let us know in the comments.
