WGN America continues with the highly anticipated premiere of their new original drama, Underground. In Episode 5, Run & Gun, Noah (Aldis Hodge) and Rosalee (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) continue to plan their daring 600-mile escape from their Georgia plantation.

With his plantation ruins, Tom Macon (Reed Diamond) offers up a reward for the capture of Noah and his runaway slaves. Ernestine, Rosalee's mother has a worried look on her face when Tom mentions $1,000 dollars for their capture, dead or alive. Tom asks his wife to see if she can get Mose's wife to talk about her husband and the others are heading.

Still on the run, Noah and Rosalee have to slow down a bit to catch their breathe. The group seems to be in favor of Cato (Alano Miller), more than Noah. Even Zeke (Theodus Crane) is willing to work for Cato. With his daughter in his arms, Moses (Mykelti Williamson) wants to head back to the plantation to rescue his wife.

With the group divided, hunter August Pullman (Christopher Meloni) and his boy are following their tracks. Moses believes he knows someone who can help him. While August and his son setup a plan to capture them, Moses and the others enter a cabin to meet their contact.

At the cabin, when August's son starts shooting, Cato and the others realize there is a reward money out for their heads. August's plan goes to hell when his rivals, the slave hunters, show up. August's son aims his gun and threatens to kill the slave hunters, unless they let his father go.

As shots are being fired, everyone looks at Noah to make a decision about what to do.  While the group separates, the slave hunters are still chasing after them. Knowing the hunters are close behind, Cato shoots Zeke in the leg to slow him down.

Zeke ends up in a bloody brawl with August's rivals. Even after being shot at, and an axe on his back, Zeke kills each and every one of the slave hunters. Zeke turns around, sees August and his son, and hits the floor.

Back at the plantation, Tom Macon's wife meets with Moses' wife. In order to get the slave woman to talk, Tom Macon's wife offers freedom papers. Tom exerts his influence and power as a slave fails to shoot him in the back. Elsewhere, August meets with Rosalee, fools her in giving up her plans, and chases after her.

With August and his son hot in pursuit, Rosalee ends up with the rest of the group. She warns them that August knows where they are headed. Having to think twice as hard, Noah realizes their only choice is to stick with the plan.

The group finally make it to the railroad station when they hear shots being fired. As August continues shooting, Rosalee and Noah help Moses and his daughter catch the train. While Moses and his daughter head towards Atlanta, Rosalee and the others continue their run to freedom.

In order to protect her daughter, Ernestine poisons Moses' wife and slits her wristt; making the murder look like a suicide.
