The sequel to 2009s epic sci-film Avatar is one of the most awaited films right now. With the releasing date getting postponed for several reasons, fans are eagerly waiting for a solid update from the production team. And now it looks like fans are going to be excited to know that James Cameron's Avatar 2 will be more like an animated film. Does that mean that Avatar 2 will not have motion capture graphics?

During a premiere of The Dark Horse, Cameron revealed the current status of the movie and the use of advanced technology to show the world a film which no one has ever seen before. According to IndiWire, 61-year-old Cameron revealed that the team will work more on the graphics than they did in Avatar. This suggests that the upcoming film will have more Na'vi world than we saw in the original. At the very same time, the Terminator director remained tight lipped when he was asked to talk more about the film.

"You have to think of it more like an animated film, so it's not really shooting per se. It's a lot of performance capture work, so yeah, we're getting into that."

It was earlier reported by MStars News that Cameron and his CGI team are working to create a world beneath the lands of Pandora. It is also being reported that Cameron's team has been seeking advice from the professional oceanographers, so that they will do the justice to the fictional underwater world of Avatar 2.

Avatar franchise producer Jon Landau shared some details about the production of Avatar 2. In an earlier interview with Empire Magazine, when he was asked to talk about the release date of the film, Landau stated that the team cannot confirm at the exact release date as "movies make release dates; release dates don't make movies."

Landau also confirmed in the interview that like Avatar, they have again collaborated with Peter Jackson's WETA technology to create the CGI effects for the film.

"It's going to be like the Floating Mountains in the first movie. It's not going to be all underwater; [the Pandora ocean is] going to be a place we go to, leave and come back to."

In 1989, Cameron directed The Abyss which followed the story of a U.S. recovery team that works with an oil platform crew and in the midst of war between them and the Russians, they encounter something unexpected in the oceans. So, based on his knowledge of oceans, we are sure that Cameron is indeed going to give us something really amazing.

The film is supposed to release on Dec. 2017, but nothing is confirmed for now. We will of course continue to keep you up-to-date on the statues of Avatar 2.
