Weeks after the release of Zack Snyder's first foray into DC Comics' Justice League with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, there's one film officially getting made as a sort of spinoff: there's a new Batman movie coming! Oscar winner Ben Affleck, whose Caped Crusader is known as Batfleck, is officially writing and directing a solo movie on the character.

According to The Guardian, Kevin Tsujihara, the current chairman and CEO in Warner Bros., confirmed that Batfleck stand-alone movie last Tuesday, appearing at CinemaCon. After weeks of rumors regarding Affleck working on a script, Tsujihara revealed the Argo actor/director would be on-screen and off for the upcoming superhero film as well.

"It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020," the studio exec said during the Las Vegas event. "I'm also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie."

So far, there are no dates for the Batman stand-alone film, but The Hollywood Reporter suggests two possible dates: October 5, 2018 or November 1, 2019. Warner has already set aside those two dates for unnamed DC Comics adaptations.

Affleck will be returning to the role of Gotham's billionaire vigilante soon: he'll co-star in Snyder's follow-up, Justice League Part One.

Superman actor Henry Cavill and Wonder Woman Gal Gadot will also reprise their lead roles from Dawn of Justice, with Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher and Ezra Miller expanding on their superhero cameos in the film.

After a record-breaking first weekend, Dawn of Justice's box office success has decreased in the weeks since its release, probably in part due to dismal critical reaction, as the film holds 28% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Still, Affleck's performance as the Dark Knight has been praised as one of the highlights of the movie

Snyder's Justice League Part One will reach theaters on November 17, 2017.
