The day of judgement is here upon us. Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan is back with his most anticipated movie of 2016 Fan. After watching the psychological thriller, one can easily connect Mr. Khan's character Gaurav to Anthony Perkins from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.

MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD:

Mr. Khan's Fan was directed by Maneesh Sharma, who got fame from directing films like Band Baaja Baarat and Shuddh Desi Romance. In Fan, he has achieved something which every filmmaker of today's generation craves -- a film that will have viewers sitting on the edges their seats all the way up through the nail baiting climax.

Plot:

The film starts with Gaurav, a doppelganger of Mr. Khan's character, Aryan Khanna, who is shown as one of the biggest stars in Bollywood. Gaurav is based out of Delhi, India and considers himself the biggest fan of Khanna. On Khanna's birthday, he goes to Mumbai to give him a special present but like every superstar, Khanna is too busy to entertain every fan of his. When Khanna denies a meeting with him, Gaurav feels betrayed and in order to show his dedication and love, he does some terrible things. The action sequence shown in the film is one of a kind and has drama in every bit of it. If you are expecting to see a film that will deliver a typical fan-meet-star type of plotline, then this is not your cup of tea.

VFX:

The VFX are done by Mr. Khan's VFX company, Red Chillies, and in the entire film, no one can believe that both the characters are played by the same person. The entire chasing sequence at the end of the film is one of a kind and it will leave the audience wanting more. In an interview with Catch News, film's editor Namrata Rao stated that this is not a usual film and Mr. Khan has tried to give his 100 percent.

"The face-off sequences are brilliant and Shah Rukh has put in so much effort for this film. He has made sure both the roles look diametrically different from each other. Being a Shah Rukh fan myself, I was unable to pick any side."

Music:

Like every Bollywood film, Mr. Khan's fan were expecting that this film would have some songs featuring the lead stars. Fan has only one song, "Jabra Fan," and if you want to see it on the big screen, then you have to wait till the end. The background score was done by Andrea Guerra, who has composed music for films like Hotel Rwanda, Facing Windows and Million Voices. The score perfectly fits with the action and the intense sequences shown in the film.

Performance:

We must say, there is no one in Bollywood who could have portrayed Gaurav as perfectly as Mr. Khan did. To handle both the characters and still have audiences believing that they are two has totally different personalities is simply amazing. Real life fans of Mr. Khan will be able to see that the actor whom we have loved after watching films like Darr, My Name is Khan and Chak De! India is in top form. In many sequences, Mr. Khan will remind you of Perkins' character from Psycho, and it would be correct to say that he has indeed done a fabulous job.

Our Verdict:

Fan is not just made for the real life fans of Mr. Khan but it also made for all of those who believe in the power of love and longing. Gaurav's affection towards Khanna shows what love means and what a person is capable of doing if he does not recieve that love in return.

Even if you are not Mr. Khan's fan, then at least watch Fan for Gaurav's dedication.
