NBC Blindspot S01E18: One Begets Technique Jaimie Alexander/Sullivan Stapleton Premiere Recap

NBC continues with the midseason premiere of Blindspot. In episode 18, will Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) be able to solve another piece of the tattoo map in One Begets Technique?

Rich Dotcom (Ennis Esmer) is in prison, playing guards with the other inmates. After being proven that he has been cheated, Rich gets a beatdown he will never forget. While Kurt is in the hospital  with his dying father. Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) sees a former friend and asks for his help to pixelate the image. 

Jane looks at Taylor's photos and wonders if she will go through Oscar's assignment.  Allie (Trieste Kelly Dunn) bumps into Jane and Kurt in the midst of a hug. With Kurt and the team, Allie reveals Rich can bring in Akthar, a wanted terrorist. On one condition though, Rich will only talk to Jane and Kurt. 

Asking for a transfer to minimum security prison, Rich mentions Akhtar wants the stolen Gardner paintings. A burglar has the stolen paintings in his fortified apartment. You need the smartwatch to get past the alarms, the passcode, a palm scan, and the paintings are booby-trapped. Turner has a killshot around his neck, which will destroy his apartment as soon as he smells trouble,  

Patterson (Ashley Johnson) is having fun with the heist as Edgar (Rob Brown)gets the smartwatch data. Allie then brings in all of Rich's stuff from his storage room. Rich has the glove, which has the fingerprints of Turner. 

Knowing Rich has to be in the mission, Kurt thinks Rich is playing them. As Tasha (Audrey Esparza) keeps an eye on Turner, Jane picks the lock. After passing the alarms with the smartwatch, Rich panics when he sees the countdown on the eye scanner. After Patterson cuts off the power, Turner gets the warning on his smartwatch.

After Rich and Weller cut the wires, Turner shows up with the sword. Jane and Allie work together to fight off Turner. Kurt moves the painting, trips the wore, and hits Turner with the shotgun blast. Unfortunately, one of the paintings was ruined in the crossfire. 

With time running out, Bethany interrogates Rich and asks if he knows someone. Rich does have a name but they need amnesty and money for their work. The art restorer Rich knows actually punches him when they met. Patterson almost gets into a fight with the art restorer. 

Rich then communicates with Akthar through a dating website. As Rich's date. Jane discovers this isn't a Gatsby party. Akthar is coked out of his mind as he dances and shoots down his own place. Men with guns arrive at the elevator and crash the party. 

Akthar shoots Rich as he pleads to save Jane's life, the "innocent hooker." Jane then beats up Althar as Edgar stops the shooting.  Rich then jumps off, pulls out his parachute and kisses the art restorer. 

Bethany chews out everyone, realizing they have all been played from the start. They didn't even get Akthar. Allie breaks up with Kurt, knowing he feels something for Jane. Kurt then takes Jane to meet his father.

Bethany enters her car and finds her former lover in the backseat.
