Idris Elba's Secret Second Wife, Sonya Hamlin Surfaces & Speaks Out About Their Ugly Divorce

Idris Elba is making waves in the headlines once again! This time the actor's second wife, who appeared to be a secret is finally surfacing and speaking nout about their ugly divorce. Her name is Sonya Hamlin, and if you ask the lawyer why she and Elba were only married for a few months, she will blame it on the star's career.

According to Bossip, Hamlin married Elba in 2006 after he divorced his first wife, Hanne "Kim" Norgaard, the mother of his daughter, Isan Elba.

Heartbroken, Hamlin claimed that Elba decided to end their marriage in order to have a successful career in showbiz. "People were telling him he was going to ruin his career," the 44-year-old explained. "He was being told it was an important part of his image to be a single sex symbol in Hollywood and being married would damage that."

Hamlin claimed that she and her former lover were in love with each other but being married wasn't good for the actor. "It was very sad. Idris and I were madly in love, but he was getting a lot of flak for being married. Everyone was like, 'Dude, you're the hottest sex symbol,'" she continued. '"It wasn't the right look,' that's what they were telling him. I wanted to save the marriage."

The couple's marriage certificate revealed that they tied the knot in Las Vegas at the Little White Wedding Chapel on April 9, 2006. Hamlin claimed that she wasn't nervious to say "I do" to the actor.

"It took several hours before we made it there, but neither of us was nervous," reflecting back on that moment, Hamlin said. "When you have that chemistry and you're that much in love, why would you be nervous?"

A source close to the real estate lawyer claimed that Hamlin's career was taking off where the two were staying, but Elba wanted to move away for his career, causing them to split.

"One of the reasons it ended was her practice was doing well here but Idris wanted to be in LA," the source explained. "At some point he had a choice between being a husband or a heart-breaker. He chose his career over her."

Elba just recently split with the mother of his second child. The actor and his longtime girlfriend, Naiyana Garth decided to end their relationship earlier this year. The former couple's son, Winston just celebrated his second birthday on April 17.
