As Jambands.com reports,

Derek Vincent Smith has also issued the following statement about his new album:

It has been 2 years, 5 months and 24 days since I last released a record. I am properly delighted to announce the release of my new full-length album "A Color Map of the Sun." I began work on this album/project/experiment in February of 2011 and spent a year creating my own vinyl collection of everything I needed to produce the album I heard in my head. I spent the next year producing songs with homemade vinyl samples and a big crazy analog synth I built just for this album. It is truly Analog Electronica. It's soulful electro hip-hop that went back in time to learn from the life of its smooth ass grandparents.

He continues talking about his "awesome" new album that he is extremely proud of:

"By putting together different groups of musicians on a daily basis, different bands were formed with the purpose of playing styles from funk, soul and jazz, to funk, rock and classical. All composition and design happened on the fly, in the moment, and with the single intention of creating amazing sounding music. I searched for vocalists that could take my lyrics and put their own incredible soul and emotion into them. I made beats for some of my favorite rappers in exchange for the ability to chop up the lyrics I wrote. It was a laborious yet immensely gratifying experiment that I could not be more proud of."

In addition to the album, a documentary chronicling its creation will be premiered this summer, reveals Dancing Astronaut. Here's the official Track list for the 2-disc forthcoming album:
