Next year, fans of David Lynch's short-lived cult series, Twin Peaks, will finally see how the story ends, over 20 years after it was taken off the air -- and this time, it's going to be on Showtime. Recently, the subscription network announced the cast for the upcoming revival, and it's eclectic to say the least -- so much so that it even includes Pearl Jam frontman, Eddie Vedder!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Showtime has just revealed the full cast list for the upcoming revival mini-series, and it's not only impressive because of the amount of big names, but also because of the amount of names, period: there are actually 217 people acting in the upcoming Twin Peaks.

There are many returning cast members from the original show, like star Kyle MacLachlan as FBI Agent Dale Cooper and Sheryl Lee as Laura Palmer. Other returning actors include David Duchovny, Miguel Ferrer, Alicia Witt, Ray Wise, Harry Dean Stanton, director Lynch and even Catherine Coulson, who died last year but had time to shoot a few scenes for the series.

Original series cast members notoriously missing include Michael Ontkean, Lara Flynn Boyle and Piper Laurie.

Deadline reports that the new cast members include Laura Dern (who's collaborated with Lynch on many previous projects), Naomi Watts, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Amanda Seyfried, Matthew Lillard, Jim Belushi, Monica Bellucci, Michael Cera and Ashley Judd, aside from the likes of Vedder and his fellow musician, Trent Reznor.

Unsurprisingly enough considering Lynch's stature as a well-established filmmaker, the cast list for Twin Peaks reads kind of like a who's who in Hollywood.

There's still no release date announced for the Showtime revival, but there were numerous issues to make it happen, and Lynch even left the project at some point over creative differences that were later resolved.

Expect more news about the miniseries soon.
