Making A Murderer Season 2: Will Brendan Dassey Case Be Central Focus of Netflix Show?

After the huge success of the Netflix series Making A Murderer, a season 2 is the inevitable. While the world is still grappling to accept what many believe is the false imprisonment of Manitowoc County residents Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey, the creators will soon satisfy our binge. It is being reported that season 2 will highlight Dassey and his struggles being that this story is far from over.

Season 1 primarily focused on Avery, his back and forth with the judicial system and most importantly his false imprisonment. While Dassey was a factor in the season, Avery's story took more of the forefront because of the prosecution's interest in painting him as a monster.

According to Bustle, fans of the Netflix series dreams may come true sooner than we all think. While the creators haven't confirmed, with Avery's people to follow-up on his story, it seems as if the star of the show is Dassey.

Filmmakers have stated that they are interested in continuing to document the case, but Dassey would be the central figure. Many fans and viewers were bothered by the outcome of season 1 and Dassey's fate. The treatment he endured from law enforcement and his appointed attorney was enough to rile up anyone who believes in right and wrong.

The nature of Dassey's case because of his age at the time as well as his developmental issues allowed him to not fully understand what he got himself into. Being easily manipulated, Dassey was treated unfairly and wrongly imprisoned. Looking at the angles of his initial arrest and prosecution, his case is way more likely to be looked at by the courts.

The now 26-year-old is currently awaiting a federal judge's ruling on a writ of habeas corpus which could ultimately have him get a new trial or even be released. Although many people have said that he may not get a new trial due to Strickland law, the terms of his imprisonment is enough to be an exception. While there is no timetable for the judge to make a decision, Dassey's fate can change any day now.

The creators of the show are just as excited as fans and they are ready to explore Dassey's side of things.

"From our perspective, this story is obviously not over, co-creator Laura Ricciardi tells a panel at New York's IFC Center. "We do know that two potential outcomes are that the judge could order Brendan's release, or he could order a new trial. So we are on the edge of seats about that. To the extent that there are significant developments, we would like to continue documenting this."
