'Person of Interest' S05E04: 6,741 Sarah Shahi, Amy Acker Root/Shaw Premiere Recap

CBS airs the Season 5 premiere of Person of Interest. In Episode 4, 6,741, are Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) John Reese (Caviezel), Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) and Root (Amy Acker) ready to fight the all-out war between Samaritan and The Machine?

Shaw wakes up in the middle of surgery as the doctors operate on her. The doctors are inserting a chip inside Shaw as Mr. Greer watches from behind a mirror. It's now time to begin phase 2.

A doctor named Stewart asks Shaw questions as he attempts to brainwash her. Shaw remains unresponsive as if the chip has fried her brain. Shaw wakes up and promises to make everyone bleed. Samaritan wants the doctors to add a new chip to her head.

Shaw attempts to escape but gets captured on purpose by the guards. Shaw shoots her way out and takes out the cameras. Shaw swipe a security card, fights her way out of an asylum, and ends up in the middle of the ocean.  

After stealing a boat, Shaw hitches a ride in a yellow taxi. Shaw knows she cannot see her friends first as she knocks out the cameras. After performing surgery on herself, Shaw makes a call and threatens to kill someone. 

While holding someone hostage, Shaw finds herself in a shootout with Samaritan agents. After being cornered, the chip inside Shaw's head starts to mess with her. Root has to rescue her and shoot down the Samaritan agent. During their short reunion, Root grabs onto Shaw after she falls.

On the subway, Root and Reese know Shaw has a chip inside her head. Root removes the tape, grabs the knife, and cuts her open. Finch and Reese have doubts about Shaw's loyalty. Root has taken the chip out of Shaw's head. 

Shaw is upset that the team hasn't looked hard for her her. She doesn't even want a kiss from Root. As Samaritan looks for her, Root and Shaw tear each other's clothes off as they have passionate sex. While the two lie naked in bed, they share one last kiss before Shaw leaves. 

Inside the bathroom, Shaw realizes the chip is still inside her head. Reese tells Root that what they took out was a placebo. Reese wonders what has changed about his former teammate. Shaw overhears their conversation, grabs a cell, and calls out Samaritan. 

Using herself as bait, Shaw takes down the samaritan agents to find Greer. Root ends up getting shot in the crossfire as Shaw captures Greer. Cutting Greer's wrist, Shaw finds a USB drive inside, which may contain a kill switch. 

Finch apologizes to Shaw for giving up on her. He gets worried when she grabs his hands. Once the team leaves, Greer reveals to Shaw this was all her plan; Samaritan broke her months ago. Shaw ends up putting a bullet in Greer's head. 

After Reese refuses to take her to The Machine, Shaw shoots him in the back. After making a run for it, Root finds Shaw. They run to a playground where Shaw shoots herself in the head. 

This was all a simulation run inside Shaw's head.
