Based on the 2007 Paramount feature film, of the same starring Mark Wahlberg, USA Network has released the official trailer for Shooter. This is the perfect opportunity to check out Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Arrow), Ryan Phillippe (Crash), and Omar Epps (House) in the upcoming USA pilot.

As we perviously mentioned, the USA drama is inspired by author Stephen Hunter's novel, Point of Impact. The plot revolves around an ex-Marine sniper, Bob Lee Swagger (Phillippe), who is recruited to thwart a presidential assassination. Swagger then finds himself framed for the heinous crime he didn't commit.

Check out our 5 thoughts on the Shooter trailer here:

5) He's An Action Star!

Ryan Phillippe has played the dramatic role in Robert Altman's Gosford Park and can deliver as the romantic leading man in Cruel Intentions. Now it seems like the Crash actor is pushing himself physically in his latest role. Can't wait to see Phillippe throwing punches and dodging bullets when the show premieres in July!

4) The Big Bad!

The Scream 2 plays role of Swagger's former commanding officer-turned-Secret Service agent Isaac Johnson. As the criminal mastermind, Johnson (Epps) is ultimately the person responsible for the double-cross and framing him for the assassination attempt. Shooter marks the return of Epps to television after House and Resurrection; third times the charm!

3) She Is The Wall!

Say what you will about Arrow, but Addai-Robinson was such a badass as Amanda Waller! This critic expects her to be kicking more butt as Nadine Memphis. In the storyline, Nadine Memphis (Robinson) appears to be on the fast track in the bureau but this fugitive case puts her professional and personal life in jeopardy. Kudos to the person who thought of the gender switch after the role was originally played by Michael Pena (Ant-Man). This definitely gives her a chance to do her own spin on the role!

2) Keep On A Eye Out For Her!

This writer fell in love with Shantel VanSanten after she played Patty Spivot in The Flash! It was sad to see her go but I cannot wait to see what she does as Julie Swagger! I really want to see what the chemistry is like between her and Phillippe!

1) From Page To Screen!

When a screenwriter has to adapt a book into a movie, they have to cram a 300 page book into 2 hours. Usually subplots are thrown away and characters are combined together. But with an episodic, serialized format, there's more time to develop the story. After reading Point of Impact, this doesn't feel like the show is remaking the movie. It's the book coming to life.

Shooter premieres Tuesday, July 19th at 10pm on USA Network.
