While many remain skeptical regarding Paul Feig's female-led Ghostbusters reboot scheduled for a summer 2016 release, the status of the original film starring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd remains as iconic as always -- and they're reuniting for the premiere's anniversary! This week, the original cast and the new one led by Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are all meeting on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

According to USA Today, this Wednesday, exactly 32 years to the June 8, 1984 premiere date of the original Ghostbusters film, members of the original cast will appear on the late night show to honor the cult classic and promote the new film.

In all, this means original stars Murray, Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts will be around, joined by McCarthy, Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Original star Rick Moranis, who's been away from cameras for many years, will not be joining the special, nor will new Ghostbusters secretary Chris Hemsworth.

"Seeing the original and new Ghostbusters all together (will be) like being in the presence of the comedy gods on Mount Olympus," reboot director Feig said in a press release. "This is an epic summit of some of the funniest people on the planet. Long live the Ghostbusters!"

BGR reports that, ahead of the new film's release, the original is also being re-released in 800 theaters all over the U.S. this week, with encore showings on June 12 that will also contain new footage from the reboot, set for a July 15 release date.

The new version of the film, which seems to be a reboot/remake of the original, hasn't gotten the best reception so far, with many calling it an unnecessary remake of a beloved film. A couple of months, it was revealed that the first full trailer is currently on the list of the most disliked videos on YouTube, and it's actually the highest of its kind on the list.

Still, the original cast has been fairly supportive of the new version of the film, and all the big names from the 1984 film except Moranis are scheduled to make an appearance -- even Sigourney Weaver. Aykroyd is one of the biggest champions of the female-led Ghostbusters, and last week he took to his Facebook page to say he's already seen the new movie and "it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films."
