'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' SPOILERS: Will Darth Vader Face Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso?

After the success and all-around awesomeness of last year's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it's definitely a shame to know we won't get a new episode of the franchise, but fans of George Lucas' space opera probably won't be complaining -- because the biggest guy from a galaxy far, far away is coming back. After a lot of speculation, it has been confirmed: Darth Vader will appear in Rogue One!

The release of the Star Wars spinoff is still about half a year away, and seeing as the film is set just before the events of Episode IV: A New Hope, there has been speculation regarding the appearance of Darth Vader for a very long time. Now, thanks to new Entertainment Weekly coverage on the film, we finally have an answer: the Sith Lord is back!

While it remains unclear who will be inside the iconic suit, presumably we'll have the same voice from the original trilogy: legendary star James Earl Jones. Seeing as the 85-year-old actor has shown no problem in reprising the role in the past (most recently in the animated series Star Wars Rebels), it seems like a shoe-in that he'd be coming back as the man who Anakin Skywalker became after turning to the Dark Side of the Force.

It's remains to be seen whether the star of the film, new character Jyn Erso (played by The Theory of Everything Oscar nominee Felicity Jones) will directly face Vader, but that sounds like one of those details fans won't find out until the movie's out in theaters.

According to IGN, that's not the only new detail revealed regarding Rogue One. We also have a bit of new information regarding Director Krennic (the character played by Ben Mendelsohn and possibly the main villain), who is "eager to earn the favor of the Emperor -- and avoid the wrath of his black-masked enforcer."

It's also been confirmed that, just like Mads Mikkelsen let slip a couple of months back, the Hannibal actor will be playing Jyn Erso's father. The character is described as "a scientist whose knowledge is sought by both sides," and although it remains unclear which side he favors, Mikkelsen isn't really known for playing the good guy.

Firefly alum Alan Tudyk will be playing K-250, an enforcer droid created through motion capture technology.

Other cast members in Rogue One include Diego Luna and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker. The film will come out in theaters on December 16.
